Energy efficiency in PET bottling: reducing consumption and improving productivity

Context and objective

In the bottling sector, optimizing energy consumption is a key element to improve the profitability and sustainability of the production process.

The company has set itself the goal of reducing electricity consumption during the PET bottling process , without compromising productivity and the quality of the final product. To achieve this goal, it was decided to invest in a new high-efficiency stretch-blow moulder , with advanced technologies for energy saving and reducing the use of compressed air.

The intervention

The company has replaced the previous system with a latest-generation stretch-blow moulding machine , characterised by:

1

High efficiency heating motors and modules

Lower energy consumption per unit of production.

2

Reduced compressed air consumption

Optimization of the blowing process, with lower energy requirements.

3

Increased productivity

Increase the speed and efficiency of the production cycle.

4

Small footprint

Optimized layout for more efficient use of production space.

The total investment for the new machine was about €680,000, with a significant economic return due to the savings achieved.

Results and benefits

The adoption of the new stretch-blow moulding machine has generated a double economic advantage for the company:

Savings of over €140,000/year in electricity

Significant reduction in operating costs with the same production.

540 TEE/anno ottenuti

Energy Efficiency Certificates (EEE) generate an additional gain of about €54,000/year.

Economic and operational impact

Improved energy efficiency

Reduced environmental impact and reduced corporate carbon footprint.

Increased profitability

The savings achieved help improve the company’s operating margins.

Energy incentives

Obtaining TEEs provides an additional return on investment.

Higher-performance production process

Better quality control and increased plant reliability.

The investment in the new stretch-blow molding machine represents a strategic step toward more sustainable and efficient production, providing significant energy savings and improved business competitiveness. This case demonstrates how technological innovation can bring concrete benefits both economically and environmentally, making the production process more sustainable and profitable in the long term.
